In The Deep

Take me to the sea
of promises. The ocean
of solitude, dark, blue, and
endless. Tell of the black
mermaid, mystery entwined
in harsh curls. A thin veil
of seaweed keeps the face
from view and encloses secrets.
She’ll fade into the abyss.
Tell me of the ocean where, when
alone, the more purple the water,
the closer the truth. The farther down,
the more ensnared, and the less likely
the surface will come back. Become
part of the deep, forever lost
among the mermaids, creatures,
and darkness.
